This note is to thank Otis James Klein for his efforts to provide the Brown family with the two volume set "Orson Pratt Brown and His Five Wonderful Wives and Their 34 Children, Vols. 1 & 2". I received mine on December 31, 2007, along with the DVD/CD combination. Our family brought in the New Year 2008 while watching the DVD. We are grateful that this work has been completed and is now available for our families to read and relish.

I do need to again bring to the DVD viewer's attention a photo identification error. We contributed the correct photo at the 2005 Reunion but the correction was not made on the DVD that we received last week. The man in the photo shown in our DVD as William Nicol Fife may be Ovid Foy. We are certain that Fife can be seen at http://www.orsonprattbrown.com/Fife/WmNicolFife1831-1915.html or if you go to the DUP site for the Ogden Museum his photo can be ordered from there. It is also on display, framed, on the wall by the south or back entrance to the Ogden museum.

Thank you again Klein-Storr family for your contribution to the Brown Family heritage and history. I would have gladly proof-read, and contributed more photos and information had you been at all open to assistance by family history buffs. But as the saying goes "there is no accounting for personalities."

I am a great great grandson of Charles David Brown. My Father's mother was Beverly Brown Lund, daughter of William Riley Brown. How can I gain access to the personal ancestral file? This is a great work that has been undertaken. I currently live in Roy, Utah.

My half-brother is a Brown. His paternal grandmother is descendant of Howard Egan. I am trying to establish whether there is a connection between Captain James Brown family and Howard Egan family.

American sawmill workers in Chihuahua 1912

In the spring of 1912, my grandfather Millard Bowden went to Chihuahua to work at a sawmill. His wife and 5 month boy went with him by train from Philadelphia, Mississippi to Mexico. While my grandfather was working, my grandmother and baby "hid" behind mattresses in their rooms. They returned to Mississippi in 1912. I'm looking for newspaper accounts and family stories about these MS sawmill workers in Mexico.

Everardo Navas' nephew // Filiberto

To everyone on this site... I want to thank all of you for the numerous mentions of my great grandfather Filiberto navas de Molina and his son Everardo. In the family, I think i am the only one whom shares his bithdate to a dregree. I was born on August 22nd 1965. As I read the articles and the captions of the pages, I remember being there in toluca when I was really young. My granddad had a really nice garden with rabbits. It was amazing to me to see the trophies and his ards for his skills in sports. I remember seeing his javelins and his discus. Perhaps I remember seeing his frame and how confidant he looked. When I did some checking it was nice to see that his name still shows in the Presea de deportes even after 1996. To those that supplied the pictures and the commentaries, I say thank you. And for those that have have said prayers today, bless you. I will have to let my grandmother know about today, I think she will be flabergasted if not totally surprised.

IRA's parents were Edmond Austin Abbott and Nancy Gregory - this info according to his bio-sketch to which he contributed, which appears in the 1882 publication: THE HISTORY of WALWORTH COUNTY, Wisconsin, where he lived from 1878-1885.... He was born in Burns, Allegany County, New York...not in Michigan...He, of course, moved to St. Joseph County (White Pigeon Community, Michigan with his parents in 1835...He first married in 1850 a Roxanna Brown of Elkhart, Indiana - they had a daughter, Harriet Emma in 1851..Roxanna died in 1852, he went back to Burr Oak, Michigan that year; was appointed Justice of the Peace there......then later Electa Araminta Shear of Phelps, Ontario, New York (May 19, 1857)..they had 3 children: Charles E. (1858), William C. in 1860, then Carrie P. All were born in Burr Oak.

First I have to thank you, our family did not have a photograph of Diana Davis Fife. I got lots of great information from your site and have used it in research. James Brown m: Polly Hall

I am looking for a James Brown that married a Polly Hall, had at least one child named Anna/Anne/Annie who married Milas/Richard Ford. They were from the area of Hardin/Gallatin, IL. Anna is buried in Leamington Cemetery in IL. James passed away about 1899 and Polly remarried a \"Buck\" Evans. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have read some of the writings from this web site and must admit, I am related to my Greatest Great Grandfather Patrick Calhoun Haynie according to my family's research and my roots come from South Carolina, Alabama, California, Texas and Arkansas. My grandmother was Mary (married several times according to all the marriage certificates I have) and was married to my grandfather Ezra. I am interested in where you got your information of Abraham Zundel living in Thatcher Arizona, and what years he was suppose to have lived there. Abraham is my husbands Great Grandfather, and we own the home where he and Abigail lived up to their death. The house contained many letters, papers, stories, pictures ect. Little Colorado river

Hi: I just kind of stumbled upon this site and took an intrest in it because I was born in Springerville, although I have lived in Sierra Vista Az for the past 40 years. There is one minor mistake I found in regards to the Little Colorado River. It states that "the little Colorado which runs through Springerville, runs north out of the Grand Canyon". This is not true. The little Colorado runs north through Springerville but it starts up in the higher elevations of the White mountains and runs toward the grand canyon and eventually runs into (I think) the colorado river.

Hi, My dads father name was Don Salvador Ateca. Ateca was married to someone from Spain, but met my grandmother when we was in Mexico. Ateca had a sister named Anita, I remember going to her home in California. Ateca owned gambling casinos in Mexico, my dad was born in El Paso and was raised in those casinos. I am not sure if its thes same Ateca or not...

Stephen Taylor and Joanna Porter/ Sarah White

We seem to have a problem here with the Taylor line as to who married who from here on down. He could not have married Joanna Porter as you have stated because he died on September 18, 1665 Hatfield Mass with his brother-in-law during an indian attack. Hi, My name is Kim Draney Weston, I am the daughter of Norman Elmo Draney. Grandaughter to Melissa Lampman Brown. I sent some pictures in, along with some updates, on my father Norman Draney Melissa and Elmo Draney\'s youngest son. I had hoped that they would be posted on the site. I would like the updates to be known. My father was born July 18, 1936 in Ogden, Utah. He married my mother Barbara Lou Brown, daughter to Richard William Brown and Esther Irene College, on September 21, 1955. My father died in Glendale, Arizona, on September 24, 1984, the victim of a drunk driver. My mother passed away May 31, 2006. I hope someone can contact me or advise me as to how I might be able to post photos and information it would be great. I have photos of my father\'s siblings, my Aunt Viola and Uncle Gene, that I noticed were not on the site also better pictures of my Grandmother and Grandfather. And just as a curious note, since I never knew my Mom\'s dad, he too was the victim of a drunk driver when she was only 3....but, he was also a Brown...does anyone know if he is an ancestor of Captain James Brown? I imagine he was but don\'t know the facts.

You will find that Barbara Lou Brown is the great-great-granddaughter of Ebenezer Brown, one of the co-founders of Draper, Utah. Ebenezer's father and grandfather are from Kirkcudbright, Scotland in the early 1700's so no connection to Captain James Brown, unless it is an indirect sibling connection that I haven't found as yet. I found your great web site and thought i would share this picture of Alexander Nephi Stephens, son of John and and Elizabeth Stephens. Sorry it is such a poor copy. My husbands mother is a stephens thru Alexander and My husband is also related thru his fathers side to John Whitstein Shupe brother of Andrew Jackson Shupe. John Whitstein died along the mormon trail after trying to rescue his parents Peter and Sarah who died also. I don't know any more about his parent. Peter and Sarah. Thanks for all the great info. i have been trying to trace my roots back to colonia dublan for a long time now.please tell me if you know anything. my father was born in hacienda corralitos to juan rodriguez and concepcion sosa. he was raised by an uncle by the name of tomas rodriguez. at one time my father said they recited in colonia dublan. i see that orson pratt brown mentions juan sosa and troribio sosa in his journals. my father also used to tell my mon that he was mormon. my fathers name is juan margarito rodriguez, date of birth june 10,1921. he road the train to juarez,mex. when he was seventeen, married my mon in allende mexico. then he became a resident in a small town in texas. he passed on september 27,2003. thank you, i will wait for your answer.

Family Histories

Dear family members:
I am very concerned about Jim Klein copyrighting all the family Histories and Pictures that we as a family have sent to him for the building up of the Brown Family Organization in good faith. I know I did not give him permission to copyright the information I sent him. I also do not like the fact that he has copyrighted this information to himself personally and not to the Brown Family Organization. By copyrighting this information to himself he has taken away all our rights to our own property.
I was also upset to find that the movie we saw at the reunion nor the book he told us about was on the disk he made us sign for. What is he going to do with this movie none of us have? Why did he make this movie if he wasn't going to share it with the family?
What are your thoughts on this?

The mother of Orson Pratt Brown's first wife Martha, was Carrie Lambourne and she was married to Miles P Romney, who was the son of my great great grandmother's (Ann Romeny) brother Miles. He was born in Dalton in Furness, Lancashire, England (not Lancaster)

Cecelia Cornue

As you know, Cecelia Henrietta Cornu had two sons: James Frederick Brown (my grandfather) and Charles David Brown. I am attaching some pictures that my brother sent me -- one of Ceclia, a few of James Frederick and his family, but also one of Charles David and his family. I hope these are helpful to you.

Unfortunately, due to a lot of family and other activies in the past few weeks, I just have not had time to go to your website and look at what you have done. I am keeping your email on top of my files, however, and I hope I get a chance to visit it in the next few days.

A different Galbraith and Brown conection

I was searching the internet and I put in my great grandfathers name William Wilkie Galbraith. I found This excellent web site. My Grandfather was Edmund Powell Galbraith and was the first child of the fourth wife of William. I have always wondered about the other three wifes and their families. This brought me such great information. Because my Mom was raised in the mormon colonies the name Brown and Pratt are mentioned all the time. When I went looking for information about the Browns I saw "capt. James Brown." I said no way this can not be my James Brown - but it is. My Maternal Great grandmother - Mary Elma Wilson Haynie - is his great granddaughter. Any way thanks so much for the website!

One correction: My father, Dewey Brown, born 11-14-1898, did not have a middle name, although he adopted the use of the middle initial "B" in later years.
